Being a private flight attendant is a unique profession, but the one thing it has in common with every other job out there is that you have to get hired first. The resume is the key to first landing the interview – at which point you’ll dazzle your prospective employer with your sparkling and can-do personality.

Before you can display that personality live, though, you will need to make it shine through on a piece of paper, which isn’t always easy. The best way to begin is to think about what experience you have that you can apply to the job you’re trying to land. Maybe it’s your first time as a flight attendant, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have relevant experience. Have you ever worked in customer service? Are you a great cook or do you make the best cup of coffee or cocktail anyone ever tasted?

Keep your resume as short and to the point as possible. Don’t list every job you ever had, but make sure to highlight the ones that matter to the position you want. List your tasks and innovation that you brought to each job.

Feel free to include relevant volunteer experience or unpaid internships. It all counts! And don’t forget the details – make sure you’ve included your contact information (yes, some people forget that) and that it’s easily visible and proofread until you’re certain there are no misspellings or grammar or punctuation mistakes. The smallest things can mean the difference between landing an interview and your resume landing in the trash.

Finally, it never hurts to hire a professional. If you’re unsure where to begin or what you need to do to make a fantastic resume that will stand out, there are people whose job it is to help you do just that. Seek one out if you feel the need.
