Traveling the world, waking up in a new location every day or week or month is exciting and fun. But sometimes it can be a trying way to live – mostly during the holidays when people just want to be home with their families. As a flight attendant, traveling during the holidays is a necessity of the job. Don’t forget, though, that your clients are also away from home at the same time you are.

So, how do you, as a customer service-oriented flight attendant, make the holidays better for yourself, but more importantly – your clients? Hospitality is the name of the game and decorations and holiday-themed food and decorations are the way to play it!

Set up a holiday table for your passengers. A little garland and holiday-themed dishes and napkins are a wonderful way to set a mood. Try leaf patterns in fall colors for Thanksgiving. Perhaps pick up a small cornucopia for a centerpiece. For Christmas, it’s easy to find appropriate patterns for tablewear and a small ceramic tree for the center. Find pine or cinnamon-scented items for the plane (just make sure to check the scents will be welcome and not bother a sensitive passenger!).

And, of course, there’s also the food. Bake or buy from a local bakery pumpkin and ginger cookies. If you can find pies that will travel well, all the better. Hot apple cider, mulled wines and peppermint martinis will give your passengers a taste of homegrown holiday spirit.

These little touches will make your passengers feel at home during a difficult time to be away, and they’ll also help you feel that warm fuzziness we all love during the holiday season!
